Blog-links now online!
Drumroll and trumpet fanfare, please! I've posted links to everyone's blog on my sidebar on the right, under (yes) "Student Blogs." The links list in randomly updated order, so each time you click to this site, you'll see a different blog on top. Take a look around, post a comment or two, and enjoy!

They seem like an interesting bunch, Lorianne. I'll bet that class is such a laugh to teach. I'm jealous, again, and now I want to trade you jobs.
I have taken the liberty of commenting on several of your student's blogs. They sound like a great bunch. They are luck to have you. I'll say to you as to them, have a great semester!
Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to click over here, and for reading & commenting on several of these brand-new blogs.
I remember when I first started blogging, it was both exciting and terrifying to know that "real people I've never met" were reading my site, so I hope that awareness of audience will inspire my students to try to write better (as it did in my case).
And congratulations, luannbb, on those new puppies!!! :-)
I remember first blogging, and so wanting comments, frightening as it was when it happened. Those early comments made me want to do better, made me feel there was some kind of point.
Some of your students have quite a spark.
Yes, it's very difficult (I think) to keep motivated--and keep writing--if you think no one's reading. (Or worse yet: people are reading, but they don't care enough to respond.)
I think the biggest challenge in teaching is trying to fan that spark without stomping it out.
I'm getting to an age where it's hard to remember what being in school was like, even though I spent 12 years of my life pursuing one degree or another. It's very interesting to have a glimpse back into that world. You can really tell the people who are "in" I really like this week's assignment--I went to a number of blogs I wouldn't otherwise have encountered. I'm a terrible blog lurker though, and have only commented on a few posts. I'm really trying to do a better job of letting people know I appreciate their work.
Oh, Jen...there are *lots* of blog lurkers out there. I wouldn't worry too much about it. The world needs more readers, after all! :-)
